This building of two apartments is situated in the center of the suburb of Kifissia on a busy road and has a very narrow view to the street.

The main concern of the owner was to achieve maximum privacy and calmness from the main street, so we decided to turn the back of the building to the street and place there the staircase. The main spaces are orientated to the interior of the plot, with a direct visual contact to the garden facing on the south and being protected from the noise of the street.

Concerning the orientation, the living rooms and the master bedrooms are placed to the south with large openings and the staircase on the north. On the north facade a metal structure is designed to protect the large opening of the staircase in order to let the light come in but on the same time obtain a privacy from the street.

According to users’ needs the apartment of 60 sqm on the ground floor is quite small with 2 bedrooms and a nice outdoor space. The apartment of 100 sqm on the first floor is more comfortable with 2 bedrooms, a spacious living room and an office space on the attic from where you can access the terrace of the building.

3 volumes of different tones of Gris compose the building. The main dark gris volume, the staircase light gris volume, and the white triangle volume where the living, dining room, kitchen and office of first floor apartment are placed.

According the choice of materials, wood is placed on the interior of both houses, tiles of owner’s choice on the bathrooms and cement mortar floor on the exterior spaces. Metallic structures are designed for the exterior space and blinds for the balconies.

Regarding the first floor apartment a metal structure with wooden footsteps suspended from the wall is proposed in order to connect the living room with the office space. Also a wooden bookshelf is designed to be placed on the limit of the attic and serve as a protection.
